The weekend is for relaxing, and that means listening to your favorite tunes! You’ve been getting into Jazz recently, and love how the genre has so much to offer when it comes to variety.
Jazz is the type of music you develop a taste for over time; you appreciate its diversity every time you give another song a listen.
That’s why you’ve decided to create a weekend playlist with amazing Jazz songs. You want to appreciate the genre in its true glory.
The Razzmajazz Dixieland Band has a few suggestions to make your playlist even better! Here are a few songs to add to your list:
Everything is Hotsy Totsy Now
This song is one of our favorites from the 1930s. It was originally produced by Irving Mills and Jimmy McHugh, but was recorded by several artists a couple of years later.
Our favorite version is the Coon-Sanders Nighthawks version, because it’s an upbeat, fun-lovin’ tune. We’ve performed it several times during events, and have always seen an amazing response from the audience!
Start your playlist with an upbeat and energetic song for a good start in the morning. You won’t be disappointed!
Shout, Sister, Shout!
This song is by the Boswell Sisters, and is perfect for Sundays or any other day when you’re feeling low.
The lyrics, “If the Devil grabs your hand/Here’s one thing that he can’t stand/Walkin’ down to the river, singing’ a hallelujah song,” will make you feel like there isn’t any circumstance you can’t overcome.
It has the ability to instantly puts you in a good mood, as it’s the perfect blend of mellow and lively beats.
Clarinet Marmalade
If you want to add another song that’ll motivate you to take on a new day, we recommend going with “Clarinet Marmalade,” by Larry Shields of the Original Dixieland Jass Band!
What we love about this song is that it relaxes your mind, all the while making you get out of bed, dance, and take on a new challenge!
It’ll make you feel like you’re on top of the world.
