What better occasion to gather a group of friends and colleagues and have some fun on the night of Halloween! Don’t let anyone trick you into getting scared by the Halloween props; we’ll treat you to the best music show you’ve attended in a while!

Here are some song suggestions to brighten up your spooky night!

The Ghost of Smokey Joe

If you’re looking for something spell-binding to suit the occasion, Cab Calloway’s Hi-De-Hi-De-Ho is the best one to go for. Released as part of the short film by the same name in 1934, this song is also called That Old Sweet Roll.

Narrating the return of the supernatural undead in lyrical form, this song mentions Calloway’s most famous character, Minnie the Moocher as well. Ending on Calloway’s cantorial wailing, Smokey Joe takes his leave on a note that leaves the audience swinging to the beat.

Skeleton in the Closet

Taken from the film “Pennies From Heaven” (1936), Skeleton in the Closet also became Louis Armstrong’s first featured billing in a movie. Backed with Jimmy Dorsey orchestra, this song is one of the best tracks to play in a Halloween function.

Taking the melody on a wild ride, this song surely takes the audience with it every step of the lyrics. A masterful solo as this is enough to send all bad spirits and ghosts flying away! Not to mention, the beats are enough even to get the skeletons dancing on happy feet.

Just A Closer Walk Razzmajazz Dixie Jazz Band

If you’ve had past experiences of having us over for a performance, you’d know the public appeal our songs always get. Not to brag, but our original songs and covers have been the audience’s most liked favored ones.

Once you’ve energized your audience enough, you can offer them a break from all the swinging and jazz during dinner. For that, our Just a Closer Walk is just perfect to go! This instrumental is just what you’ll need to keep the mood going, but it’s also a much-needed breather.
